Summary
Material
The starting material is oregano dust (Origanum onites) — the fine fraction left over from oregano processing, normally treated as a low-value residue. The dust was extracted with supercritical CO2 to recover its volatile, terpene-rich fraction.
Sample preparation
A 10 mL sample of the extract was taken, from which 10 µL was sub-sampled for analysis and diluted 100-fold in hexane.
Analysis
The diluted extract was analysed by GC-MS under the laboratory's in-house method AF-LABGC002, identifying the constituents of the profile and their relative abundances from retention times and mass spectra. The same run was used to screen the extract for additives, adulterants and contaminants.
